VICTORIA 4
BELLINGHAM 1
The Victoria HarbourCats finally found a way to beat the Bellingham Bells, using a 2-for-4 performance from third-baseman Alex DeGoti and a solid 6 2/3 innings from starting pitcher Austin Dondanville to post a 4-1 win in Washington state on Wednesday night.
The victory snapped a four-game losing skid at the hands of the Bells, who lead the West Division of the West Coast League with a 25-13 record.
A series win is on the line tonight at 7 p.m. in the third and final game of the series at Joe Martin Field.
DeGoti scored a pair of runs and added an RBI for the visitors who improve to 18-20 and cut the Bells’ lead in the division to seven games.
Victoria took advantage of five Bellingham errors in a sloppy performance by the home team.
The HarbourCats put up a three-spot in the third inning to secure a 3-0 lead, highlighted by DeGoti’s RBI single. He then scored on Austin Guibor’s double.
Dondanville earned the win, allowing one run on seven hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
Nick Wojtysiak closed out on the mound for Victoria.
