A costly 10th end sent Neil Dangerfield’s Victoria Curling Centre rink tumbling out of A-event play at the Canadian Direct Insurance sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Men’s Championship on Thursday morning.

Andrew Bilesky’s Royal City Curling Club rink recorded a three-ender in the 10th to steal a 10-9 win in one A semifinal, after Dangerfield had recorded a deuce in the eighth end and stole one in nine.

Sean Geall edged Brent Pierce — both of Royal City — 6-5 in the other semi at the Parksville Curling Club.

Geall then defeated Bilesky 9-4 in eight ends in the A final, advancing to the Page 1-2 game.

Dangerfield dropped down to B-event play and downed Tom Buchy of Kimberley 8-6 to advance to the B semifinal this morning.

Jason Montgomery and Jay Tuson, both of the VCC, were eliminated.

Tuson lost 8-5 to the Richard Brower rink of the Peace Arch Curling Club, while Montgomery’s foursome was defeated 9-5 in B play by Mark Longworth of the Vernon Curling Club and also lost 5-4 to Jay Wakefield of Royal City.

Defending champion Jim Cotter was still very much alive, downing Wakefield 6-1 in just four ends and Longworth 8-3 in six ends to advance to the B-event semifinals.

The B-event final is set for today at 2 p.m.
