A day after losing Grant Armstrong to the Brandon Wheat Kings, the Victoria Royals have shuffled the deck.
The Western Hockey League franchise announced Thursday that Enio Sacilotto is moving from assistant coach to the team鈥檚 director of prospect development and WHL scout.
General manager Cam Hope and head coach Dave Lowry are on the hunt for a new assistant coach to work behind the bench, a position Sacilotto has held with the organization for six seasons, dating back to the 2010-11 Chilliwack Bruins prior to the move to the Island in 2011-12.
鈥淲e have confidence that our staff and structure will allow our hockey operations departments to continue their top-end work of identifying players,鈥 Hope said in a statement Thursday.
鈥淭he crucial area we needed to fill with an experienced and knowledgeable member of our team was in prospect development.
鈥淭he strength of our organization lies with the individuals who work for us. Nowhere has this been more evident than within our coaching staff. These attributes have allowed us to move Enio into this important role, while secure in the knowledge that Dave Lowry will continue his exemplary work with our current roster.鈥
Hope added that Sacilotto will play a key role in the development of the Royals鈥 prospects that make up the team鈥檚 50-man list.
Armstrong was announced as the new GM of the Wheat Kings on Wednesday, four years after joining the Royals.
The Royals begin their 2016 rookie camp this morning at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre. The veterans report Monday for the start of main camp.
