Victoria Shamrocks alone in first place

Ranger had four goals while Shattler added a goal and three assists in a 13-9 road victory over the Coquitlam Adanacs.

Ranger, the team captain, returned from injury while Shattler came back from a one-game suspension.

The victory moves the Shamrocks, 9-4, back into sole possession of first place, just ahead of the Langley Thunder (7-3-2). The two teams will meet in Victoria on Friday after the Shamrocks venture to New Westminster on Thursday.

The Shamrocks opened up period leads of 3-1 and 9-6 in Coquitlam.

Rhys Duch, two goals and four assists, and Corey Small with a goal and five helpers, also had big nights for Victoria, while Cory Conway added two goals and two assists.

Tyler Hass, with a pair, and Adam Brown also scored for the victors.

Goaltender Matt Vinc made 23 saves for the win, including 12 in the opening period, while his teammates peppered Coquitlam netminders Adam Shute and Nathan Wilson with 54 shots.

Daryl Veltman led the Adanacs with three goals, while Ryan Keith added a pair. Jesse Guerin, Mark Negrin, Jeff Sproue and Matthew Dinsdale replied for Coquitlam. Brandon Goodwin had four assists.

The Jr. Shamrocks came up with another offensive explosion, hammering the Port Coquitlam Saints 23-5 at Bear Mountain Arena.

Jesse King led the way with four goals and eight assists, while Devon Casey had an eight-point outing that included a pair of goals. Chris Wardle added three goals and two helpers.

The Jr. Shamrocks wrap up their regular season today in Port Coquitlam.

Meanwhile, the Intermediate Shamrocks defeated the Langley Thunder 15-10.

Cole Pickup and McLean Chicquen had four goals and two assists each for the Intermediates who are in New Westminster today.
