After celebrating with Mann Cup fan appreciation day on Saturday, the Victoria Shamrocks announced the first of their signings for the 2016 Western Lacrosse Association season on Sunday.
Veterans Corey Small, Jesse King and Tyler Burton will all be back to try and win a fourth-straight league title and a second straight national Senior A lacrosse crown.
鈥淚t鈥檚 great to have three of our core players signed at this early stage of the year,鈥 general manager Chris Welch said in a statement. 鈥淎ll three of these players played key roles for us last year and will continue to be big contributors going forward.鈥
Small and King were league first-team all-stars last season.
Small led the WLA in points with 33 goals and 46 assists for 79 points in 18 games, added 40 points in eight playoff outings and 25 points in six Mann Cup games. Small, who enters his seventh season with Victoria, was also named the Mann Cup MVP.
King had 33 goals and 31 assists for 64 points in 16 regular-season games, adding 18 playoff points and 14 more in six Mann Cup games.
In his first full WLA season, King claimed two team awards 鈥 the George Blackstock Memorial Award for most valuable player and the Chris Hall Award, which is awarded to the player with the most competitive spirit.
Burton is back for his fourth season with the Shamrocks and the solid defender is also one of the top face-off men in the in WLA.
