A four-goal second period followed by a nine-goal third propelled the visiting Victoria Shamrocks to a 16-6 victory over the Langley Thunder on Wednesday night, stretching the team鈥檚 win streak to four games.
The Shamrocks improve to 4-2 on the Western Lacrosse Association season while the Thunder slip to 2-4 with their second loss in consecutive nights, this one at home at the Langley Events Centre. The Thunder lost 9-7 at Maple Ridge on Tuesday.
Jesse King had four goals and two assists while captain Scott Ranger added three goals to lead the way offensively for Victoria. Cory Conway had a goal and five helpers while Rhys Duch, Daryl Veltman and Corey Small all had a goal and four assists each.
Mitch Jones, Karsen Leung, Matt Yager, Bradley Kri and Tyler Hass added a goal each. Jones added three assists while Leung had two helpers for the Shamrocks, who snapped a 3-3 tie after the first period to lead 7-4 after two periods.
Athan Iannucci and Patrick Saunders had two goals and two assists each for the Thunder. Jacob Reust and Jakob Doucet had the other Langley goals. Goaltender Cody Hagedorn stopped 40 shots for the win for the Shamrocks while Brodie Macdonald faced 59 shots on goal for Langley.
The Shamrocks are off until June 19, when the Coquitlam Adanacs visit The Q Centre.
