Victoria teen golfer on a mission for sa国际传媒 men鈥檚 amateur title

He鈥檚 just 13, but Jeevan Sihota is serving notice he鈥檚 ready to take on this country鈥檚 best amateur golfers.

Sihota, who plays out of Gorge Vale Golf Club, shot a 1-under 71 on Thursday in the third round of the 115th sa国际传媒 Men鈥檚 Amateur Championship at Morgan Creek Golf Club in Surrey. The Victoria teenager is now alone in third place, three shots back of leader Jacob Koppenberg of Bellingham. Victoria鈥檚 Jake DuVall out of Uplands, is alone in second, one shot behind Koppenberg after both front-runners also shot 71s on Thursday.

The Island presence in the top five continues with Kevin Carrigan. The former Canadian mid-amateur champion from Royal Colwood shot a 69 on Thursday to climb into a tie for fourth place with Chris Crisologo out of Marine Drive Golf Club.

And one shot further back is another Royal Colwood golfer, Keaton Gudz, who shot a 68 on Thursday to climb the leaderboard.

The other Victoria player in the top 10 is Bear Mountain Golf Resort鈥檚 Mac Keats. Keats shot a 2-under 70 on Thursday to move into a tie for ninth, eight shots off the lead.

Defending champion Nolan Thoroughgood from Royal Colwood had an even-par round Thursday and sits in a tie for 29th.

The top finishers after today鈥檚 final round advance to the 2017 Canadian Men鈥檚 Amateur Championship, which goes Aug. 7-10 at Toronto Golf Club.
