Even before they became major-leaguers, Jeff Francis, Eric Sogard, Jacoby Ellsbury, Bud Norris, Tommy Hanson and Marc Rzepczynski had something in common.

They all played in the West Coast League all-star game, the 2013 version of which comes to Royal Athletic Park on July 23.

On Thursday, the Victoria HarbourCats, who begin their 54-game inaugural WCL season on June聽5, announced details of the all-star event, which is expected to attract several MLB scouts.

There were 57 WCL players selected in the 2012 MLB draft and 45 in 2011. The league features top NCAA U.S. collegiate players in wood-bat summer ball.

The all-star logo was designed by HarbourCats merchandising manager Jakki Corrigan. The Yates Street Tap House was announced as the presenting sponsor of the game.

All-star game and HarbourCats tickets are available at harbourcats.com, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the team offices at 103-1814 Vancouver St., or by phoning 778-265-0327.
