鈥淭hat鈥檚 really cool,鈥 an excited Carrigan told sa国际传媒 Golf officials afterward.

鈥淚 hit my irons well, but wasn鈥檛 particularly hitting it well off the tee so I just tried to keep it in play. I got a couple lucky bounces and made a couple of good putts. It makes it pretty easy to play when you can feed off guys like Kevin [Kwon] and Charlie [Hughes] who were playing so well out there.鈥

Hughes, of Langley, is tied for fourth with Brent Wilson of Gorge Vale, who both shot 69 and sit a shot back of Spooner and Kwon.

Carrigan, who started on the back nine, was 6-under at the turn with birdies at holes No 12, 14, 16 and 17, then capped it with an eagle at the 18th.

Other Island golfers in the hunt are Victoria Golf Club鈥檚 Craig Doell, (70-71) who is tied for 11th along with Darren Day (70-71) of Royal Colwood and Nanaimo鈥檚 Zach Anderson (70-71).
