The University of Victoria Vikes celebrated their 2012 Freedom 55 Financial Vikes Honour Roll last week with 58 athletes being honoured.
And the highlight of the night was the naming of Vikes goalkeeper Olivia deGoede as this year's Provost Award winner. The fourth-year keeper was a member of the Vikes team that recently won the bronze medal at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport national championship in Victoria. DeGoede is a biology major and finished the 2011-12 academic year with a 8.90 grade-point average.
In addition to deGoede's award, 58 Vikes student-athletes were named to the Honour roll, having achieved 80 per cent or higher in the classroom.
