Well, that was a much better day.

Sarah Wark, of the Victoria Curling Centre, rebounded from two losses on Thursday with two pivotal victories on Friday at the Scotties sa国际传媒 Women鈥檚 Curling Championship at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex in Coquitlam.

Her 10-4 win in the afternoon draw over Kesa Van Osch of Nanaimo propelled Wark into tonight鈥檚 Page 3 vs. 4 playoff game at 7:30 p.m. against Diane Gushulak of the Royal City Curling Club.

Wark and Gushulak both finished at 4-3 behind veteran Kelly Scott of Kelowna at 6-1 and Karla Thompson of Kamloops at 5-2. The latter two will play in the Page 1 vs. 2 game this morning, with the winner advancing straight to Sunday鈥檚 final.

Gushulak defeated Wark 7-2 on Thursday morning.

It was a much different crew that took to the ice on Friday, however, as Wark and her team of third Simone Brosseau, second Michelle Allen and lead Rachelle Kallechy downed Amanda Russett of Kamloops 7-3 after just six ends in the morning draw.

The VCC rink then jumped all over Van Osch and her crew of third Kalia Van Osch, second Shawna Jensen and lead Carley St. Blaze in the afternoon.

鈥淚t was a much better day,鈥 said Wark. 鈥淲e came out and went hard right from the start. We decided to go for it early.鈥

It paid off with a 7-0 lead on Van Osch after just three ends as steals of four and two in the second and third ends put Wark in prime position.

鈥淓verything was in the four-foot in the second and she really didn鈥檛 have much [of a shot],鈥 Wark said of the four-spot.

Wark鈥檚 deuce in the eighth ended it as the teams shook hands. In the morning, the VCC rink used a five-ender in the fifth to pull away from Russett.

鈥淲e鈥檙e feeling good. We struggled at the beginning of the week, playing pretty inconsistent, but the Thursday night game was a big turnaround,鈥 she said of battling back from a 5-0 deficit against Thompson, only to lose 7-6 in an extra end.

鈥淚 know we lost, but the second half of that game we were more like ourselves. We just kept it going in the morning.鈥

Should Wark advance tonight, she will face the loser of the Page 1 vs. 2 game in Sunday morning鈥檚 semifinal at 11 a.m. which will be broadcast on Sportsnet Pacific. The championship final then goes at 4 p.m. on Sportsnet One.
