West Coast League welcomes Salem Marion Berries

The Victoria HarbourCats and Nanaimo NightOwls will have added company next season in the West Coast League of ­baseball.

The summer collegiate league announced Tuesday it has added the Salem Marion Berries from Oregon, named after a famous berry in the region.

Salem will become the 17th team in the WCL, which has franchises throughout sa国际传媒, Alberta, Washington state and Oregon in a season that runs from June through August and features players from university and college teams playing during their summer breaks.

The Marion Berries will play out of Willamette University’s John Lewis Field which will undergo $3 million worth of renovations including new turf, lighting and added concession stands.
