The 2019 Western Lacrosse Association regular season will run May 23 through July 27, the league announced Wednesday.
The season opens May 23 at Queen’s Park Arena, where the New Westminster Salmonbellies will begin celebrating their 130-year anniversary as they host the Langley Thunder.
The Victoria Shamrocks begin their 70th season the following night at The Q Centre in an Island derby against 2018 playoff semifinal opponent Nanaimo Timbermen.
Nanaimo’s home opener is May 26 against New Westminster at Frank Crane Arena.
Last year’s WLA playoff champion Maple Ridge Burrards will start their title defence at home on May 26 against the Coquitlam Adanacs at Cam Neely Arena.
The other home openers are May 25 with Coquitlam hosting the Burnaby Lakers, May 29 with Langley Thunder hosting the Lakers and June 9 with Burnaby hosting Maple Ridge.
The Shamrocks will play six home dates on Friday nights at 7 p.m. and three on Sunday evenings at 6 p.m., all at The Q Centre.
Victoria hosts Nanaimo on May 24, Langley on May 26, Burnaby on May 31, New Westminster on June 14, Maple Ridge on June 16, Coquitlam on June 21, Langley on June 28, Coquitlam on July 19 and Burnaby on July 21.
The Shamrocks’ away dates are June 6 at Nanaimo, June 9 at Maple Ridge, June 29 at New Westminster, July 4 at Nanaimo, July 5 at Burnaby, July 10 at Langley, July 14 at Maple Ridge, July 25 at New Westminster and July 27 at Coquitlam. — sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½
