The Westshore Rebels opened the sa国际传媒 Football Conference junior season in dramatic fashion Saturday with a victory in Chilliwack over the Valley Huskers.
Quarterback Colby Henkel hit receiver Brycen Mayoh deep in the end zone for a converted touchdown with 2:20 remaining to give the Rebels a 21-20 victory. The Rebels had been trailing 20-7 when Zach Lubin ran in for a touchdown to pull Westshore to within six points with 5:09 remaining.
The Rebels missed the playoffs last year for the first time in four seasons. The Huskers, meanwhile, made the playoffs last year after going winless at 0-30 the previous three seasons.
The Rebels open at home next Saturday in the Island derby against the Vancouver Island Raiders at Westhills Stadium.
