The sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Football Conference is returning to a balanced schedule in 2016, only with a twist.
After three seasons of unbalanced play, which was based on regular-season seedings from the previous year, all six teams will now return to playing each other twice — once at home and once away.
The Westshore Rebels will have a challenging start to 2016 — the BCFC’s 75th anniversary — taking on perennial favourites the Langley Rams and Vancouver Island Raiders at home at Westhills Stadium July 23 and 30, before setting out to Kelowna to take on the defending league champion Okanagan Sun on Aug. 6.
Westshore ventures to Kamloops and Chilliwack, Aug. 13 and 20, to face the Broncos and Valley Huskers, respectively. The Rebels will then play host to the Huskers on Aug. 27 and Sept. 10, before travelling to Nanaimo and Langley Sept. 17 and 24.
Westshore will close out its regular-season campaign at home to Kamloops on Oct. 1.
The 2016 BCFC champion will also play host to the Canadian Bowl on Nov. 12.
The twist to the season is that two BCFC franchises will face Prairie Football Conference opponents in interlocking games as the Valley Huskers and Okanagan Sun will forgo their second head-to-head matchup, Sept. 17, in favour of challenges from the Winnipeg Rifles and CJFL champions, the Saskatoon Hilltops, respectively.
Results will count in BCFC standings.
Westshore has finished 2-8 the last three years and missed the playoffs.
