The Victoria Shamrocks won their fifth consecutive game, and sixth of their past seven, with a 9-7 victory over the host Salmonbellies on Saturday at Queen’s Park Arena in New Westminster.
The Shamrocks, who began the Western Lacrosse Association season at 0-3, moved to 6-4. The Salmonbellies fell to 5-5.
Cole Pickup scored twice for Victoria and Graeme Hossack, Larson Sundown, Keegan Bell, Chris Wardle, Josh Fagan, Adrian Sorichetti and Steve Priolo once each.
Austin Shanks scored a hat-trick for the ’Bellies.
Peter Dubenski made 35 saves in goal for Victoria and Alexis Buque 39 for New Westminster.
Victoria led 4-3 after the first period and 8-4 after the second.
It was the first of five consecutive road games for the Shamrocks, who are in Nanaimo for the Island derby against the Timbermen on Thursday, before meeting the first-place Lakers in Burnaby on Friday.
The next Shamrocks home game is not until July 19 at the Q Centre against the Coquitlam Adanacs.
