Wong, Denton share lead at Toronto event

Eugene Wong of North Vancouver and Trey Denton of the U.S. share the lead at 10 under after three rounds of the Canadian Tour Championship.

Eugene Wong of North Vancouver and Trey Denton of the U.S. share the lead at 10 under after three rounds of the Canadian Tour Championship.

Wong, who turned pro in mid-July, fired a 68 on Saturday to match Denton (67) atop the leaderboard at Scarboro Golf and Country Club.

"There's going to be some pressure out there [today]. I know I'm going to feel it, and hopefully what I've learned as an amateur will help me," Wong said. "My short game kept me in it today. I wasn't hitting it as well as the last two days but I made some really nice up and downs to keep myself in it."

Wong will need to fend off Denton, who has two secondplace finishes on the Canadian Tour.

Sitting one shot back of Wong and Denton is 2011 international rookie of the year Joe Panzeri (70) and Canadian Tour rookie and fellow American Stephen Bidne (69). Matt Makinson (69) of Coquitlam is in a five-way tie for fifth at 8 under.
