CLEVELAND - The New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians have been postponed by rain for the second straight day.
Play never began Thursday night, and the tarp was still covering the infield when the game was called at 9 p.m. The teams also were rained out on Wednesday night, cutting a four-game series in half. The Yankees won the first two games, outscoring the Indians 25-7.
No makeup date was announced. However, both teams have an open date May 13 and it's possible they will play a doubleheader. This was New York's only scheduled visit to Progressive Field, but the Yankees will now be coming back to Cleveland.
The Indians will open a three-game series at home Friday against the Chicago White Sox. The Yankees return home to face the Baltimore Orioles.
