Garcia (6-5) held the Blue Jays to five hits and no walks while striking out four as he used only 78 pitches.

Toronto left-hander Ricky Romero (8-9) allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks over seven innings. The Blue Jays committed two errors behind him.

Kelly Johnson drove in two runs for the Blue Jays with a homer and a double. It was the fourth loss in a row for the Blue Jays and the third win in a row for the Yankees.

Mark Teixeira hit his 22nd homer of the season on the first pitch of the eighth inning thrown by reliever Steve Delabar to start a three-run inning by the Yankees that extended their lead to 6-2.

The Yankees (66-46) scored twice in the second as Romero continually fell behind in the count.
