TERRACE, sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ — Mounties in Terrace, sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, say they have identified the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash over the weekend as a driver for a local taxi company who has since left the country.

Police say they were called to an intersection in the central sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ city early Sunday where they found a man on the road with injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

The man was declared dead at the scene and police believe he was struck between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Police say that on Tuesday they obtained evidence the vehicle was owned by a local taxi company.

The vehicle has been seized by police who say the company is co-operating in the investigation.

Police say the driver of the suspect vehicle has been identified but has left sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½.

Mounties say they are working to bring the case to the sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Prosecution Service for charge assessment.
