Dozens of flights cancelled to and from YVR airport

Travellers are reminded to check their flight statuses for Sunday.

Metro Vancouver travellers heading to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) are reminded to check their flight statuses as snow is in the forecast for the next couple of days.

The second snowfall of the season has hit Richmond, where YVR airport is located, and across Metro Vancouver on Sunday.

Many flights are still scheduled to fly in and out of YVR airport. But dozens of international and domestic flights have also been cancelled on Sunday, according to YVR’s flight status page.

The airport is reminding passengers to check their flights statuses and give themselves extra travel time to get to their flights due to the snow fall warning.

They are “anticipating some delays” due to the winter weather, reads YVR’s Twitter post.

New regulations require airlines to  to customers who have flights delayed by over three hours. 

The new rules require Canadian airlines to provide customers with "either a refund or rebooking, at the passenger's choice, when there is a flight cancellation, or a lengthy delay, due to a situation outside the airline's control," according to the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA).

Environment sa国际传媒 issued a snowfall warning of five to 10 cm of snow to fall across Metro Vancouver and 10 to 15cm in the Fraser Valley for Sunday.

“Strong easterly outflow winds will accompany the arctic front producing areas of reduced visibility,” reads Environment sa国际传媒’s weather statement.
