Are you associated with or running as part of a slate team? If so, which one?

Community First Langford

Do you live in the municipality where you are running, and if so, for how long? If not, what is your connection to that community?

Yes, moved to Langford in 1969 and lives here now with my wife, Beverley and our daughter, Madison.

What is your occupation, and for how long?

I’ve served 20 years on council, but I fondly recall my 40+ years at Western Speedway where I was the voice of the Speedway.

Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.

I have served in a variety of roles on council: Co-Chair of the Economic Development committee in 2008 during the global economic crisis helping to steer Langford through those tough times. I have been a strong supporter of Mayor Young’s Covid Response Team which helped earn Langford’s most Resilient City two years in a row. I am proud to have brought forward the new Noise Bylaw in Langford – ensuring families can enjoy their properties on the weekends without disruption.

Currently I chair the Administration and Finance committee, I am Langford’s representative to the Greater Victoria Library Board, and the Family Court and Youth Justice committee.

I was proud to lead the way in bringing professional soccer (PFC) to our community

Why are you running? What’s your motivation?

I have always been a strong voice for taxpayers, their investments, and building community amenities. I want to continue the good work we have done keeping Langford affordable and attractive to families who live here.

What are your top three issues?

• Affordability – Langford has long had some of the lowest taxes in our region and that has helped families live here as it is affordable. We need to ensure that we keep our taxes and services affordable for families.

• Continuing to encourage professional sports – I was very proud to take the lead in brining professional soccer to our community and will continue to make Langford the sport capital of sa国际传媒.

• Improving services/amenities for Langford – We have built a strong foundation of amenities in our city and I want to continue on this good work into the future.

What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?

• I see Langford as a diverse city with excellent amenities and services for all residents. Whether you have a family, are a senior, a young person looking for work and an affordable house – Langford will be the choice. We have built a city that focuses on what people want in a city they choose to live – and we have been successful.

What’s one “big idea” you have for your community?
