Are you associated with or running as part of a slate? If so, which one?
No I’m not running as part of a slate
Do you live in the municipality where you are running, and if so, for how long? If not, what is your connection to that community?
Yes, I live in Victoria, and I Have been living here for the past ten years.
What is your occupation, and for how long?
I’m currently working at the Bard & Banker in the kitchen, I’ve been working there for the past year. Prior to that I was working at Save-on-Foods
Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.
I’ve been living in Victoria for the past ten years and have been an active member of the recovery community since moving here. I was previously elected to the student council in college and am familiar with Roberts rules of order. I look forward to being a representative of the people of this beautiful city. Thank you for this opportunity.
Why are you running? What’s your motivation?
I have thought about running for office in the past and with the encouragement of my family and friends I have decided to follow through and take action and run in this year’s election.
I’m passionate about helping people, especially people who are often marginalized in our community. I want to be a voice for the people who are not always given one. I would like to attempt to be an advocate for people who have a hard time advocating for themselves.
What are your top three issues?
#1 The mental health and addiction crisis that our community is facing
#2 The housing of residents in our city who may be within lower-moderate income brackets.
#3 Financial accountability of city resources.
What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?
I would love to see a thriving community where we don’t have people who are homeless and people facing mental health crises are able to access the help they need to overcome their issues. I would also like to see a more diverse population, with less income inequality.
What’s one “big idea” you have for your community?
It would be nice to see a community hub where people are able to access help with mental health and addiction issues as well as housing resources.
