The War Child Lounge is the place to be for music lovers looking for more intimate performances at Rifflandia.
Some of the festival's most popular performers, including Sloan and Mother Mother, unplug and settle in for a two-hour cabaret of musical offerings in support of the festival's chosen charity.
"[Audiences] will be able to see lots of Rifflandia performing artists doing sort of pared-down acoustic sets," said Jenn Ivanovs, manager of music and special initiatives for War Child sa国际传媒. "It's a cool vibe for everyone involved."
Dylan Willows and Jason Lamb, hosts of the Morning Zone on The Zone, emcee the event.
Rifflandia festivalgoers have raised $6,000 in the past two years for War Child, a humanitarian organization that supports children in war-affected communities. The goal this year is to double that number, Ivanovs said. All funds raised through ticket sales for the Lounge are donated to War Child.
Rifflandia is part of a long list of musical partners supporting the charity.
"We've had a lot of supporters within the music industry over a few years, especially starting with - back in the day more so - Sum 41, the Tragically Hip and Chantal [Kreviazuk] and Raine [Maida]," said Ivanovs.
"Through the years, that's progressed with more and more festivals like Osheaga and Supercrawl."
