The National Geographic Channel will release Seal Team Six, its own dramatization of the top-secret military operation to kill Osama bin Laden, on Nov. 4, just two days ahead of the U.S. presidential election.
The film tracks the elite Navy SEAL team from the discovery of bin Laden's whereabouts to the moment commandos stormed his Pakistani compound and killed him.
Seal Team Six was originally slated to premiere in theatres as Code Name: Geronimo before it was picked up by National Geographic - likely pushed out by the controversial December release of Zero Dark Thirty, the first film by Kathryn Bigelow since her Academy Award-winning The Hurt Locker.
The cast for Seal Team Six includes William Ficht-ner of Prison Break and Eddie Kaye from American Pie as CIA operatives, and Cam Gigandet of Twilight and Hell on Wheels star Anson Mount and rapper Xzibit as members of the SEAL team helicoptered into the compound for the night-time mission after bin Laden.
