Why: The passing of legendary local drummer Don Leppard, who died Aug. 22 , leaves a super-sized hole in the close-knit jazz community after nearly 40 years of performing in Victoria. Musicians wanting to pay their respects can sit in with CanUS, one of Leppard’s many projects, during their afternoon set at Hermann’s Jazz Club. With a lineup that includes Alfons Fear, Al Pease, Simon Stribling, Avram McCagherty, Joey Smith, Laurie Lyster, and Toni Blodgett, CanUS provides the ideal showcase for anyone hoping to celebrate Leppard’s legacy — on stage and off.
