Victoria's Catherine Greenwood was named a runner-up for the national CBC Poetry Prize. She receives a $1,000 prize.
Greenwood's poem, The Texada Queen, was one of five English and five French entries selected from more than 2,300 poems sent from across sa国际传媒.
The grand-prize winner was Sadiqa de Meijer of Kingston, Ont., for Great Aunt Unmarried. The winner receives a $6,000 award and a two-week writing residency at the Banff Centre.
The other English-language runners-up were: Stephanie Bolster of Montreal for Long Exposure, Emily McGiffin of Smith for Stikine Country and Marion Quednau of Mission for Yesterday, I Looked Inside.
The jury for this year's CBC Poetry Prize was Patrick Lane, Dennis Lee and Julie Bruck.
