Camosun hosts Orange Shirt Day ceremony. The National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, will be marked with a special ceremony on Sept. 26 at Na’tsa’maht on Camosun College’s Lansdowne campus. Gather at Na’tsa’maht, Lansdowne Campus at 1 p.m. with at welcome from Knowledge Keeper Brianna Bear followed by words from Elders Doug and Kathy LaFortune as well as Indigenous and non-Indigenous students at 1:30 p.m.

Join us for an afternoon with local Quw’utsun artists and the unveiling of our new Indigenous artwork commissioned by the library for our multi-purpose room honouring the learning space as a place for learning together where every child matters. Truth and Reconciliation mural unveiling. Monday, Sept. 30, 3-5 p.m. with mural reveal at 3:30 p.m. at Oaklands Community Centre, 2827 Belmont Ave. Join us for an afternoon of reflection and as we celebrate the artwork of Coast Salish artist, Andrea Fritz, whose new community mural will be installed outside of Oaklands Community Centre. The mural reveal will be both a celebration of Indigenous artistry and a reflection of Indigenous histories, presents and futures. The unveiling ceremony will include a short talk by the artist, lively music, and delicious snacks and refreshments.
Colwood: Na’tsa’maht Gathering. Join us at the Royal Beach Park on Metchosin Road at Latoria Boulevard, on Monday, Sept. 30, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The gathering will begin with a welcome to the land and remarks from local chiefs and other dignitaries. Throughout the day we’ll hear stories, enjoy traditional songs, drumming, dancing, art and paddling, share food, and participate in activities that bring us all together to create connections and build community.
