Blockbusters arrive earlier every year, and now the MTV Movie Awards will, too.
MTV announced that its annual movie awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, April 14, nearly two months earlier than usual.
The show is less known for its irreverent awards than for its comedy sketches and publicity stunts promoting the big summer releases. (Think Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno character landing in Eminem's crotch, the highlight of the 2009 awards.) The earlier date will give the hype machine more lead time.
It will also create more space between MTV's two award ceremonies: The VMAs traditionally air in September, at the end of summer.
