I <3 spinning

Believe it or not I鈥檝e come to LOVE the spin bike. Yep, I actually look forward to my 鈥渟pinning鈥 day. The first few weeks I would tentatively climb on the bike, not knowing how I was going to make out.

Believe it or not I鈥檝e come to LOVE the spin bike. Yep, I actually look forward to my 鈥渟pinning鈥 day.

The first few weeks I would tentatively climb on the bike, not knowing how I was going to make out. But Lindsay, my strength and conditioning coach (much better title than personal trainer and much more appropriate) started me out slowly.

It's difficult to remember but I think the first week I started with cycling hard for 15 seconds, then 45 seconds easy, for a few sets. We've work on endurance, hills, speed and this past week we did a "spin class." It wasn't easy, none of this is, but I managed to complete the workout with out feeling like I was going to pass out or throw-up. That's a major accomplishment. I was on the bike for 45 minutes and probably could have gone longer (but we won't tell Lindsay).

I鈥檓 blown away by my progress. I've can't believe how much I鈥檝e improved since that first week. I'm gaining confidence and the bike doesn't scare me anymore. I'm starting to feel like I really will be able to ride my pretty little red bike and even like it.

On the days it doesn't rain we bring the spin bike outside, but I'm thinking it's time to get my bike out and go for a spin around the neighbourhood.

I head back to Ottawa in May and I鈥檓 looking into spin classes there and I鈥檓 also going to register for the Fall Colours Sprint Duathlon.
