It's the time of year when all sorts of mushrooms sprout up in lawns and woodlands in the region. Learn about the variations and adaptations at Fabulous Fungi, a guided walk this weekend hosted by CRD Parks.
The two-hour program hosted by park naturalist Kem Luther is a guided walk for adults (18 and older) that focuses on identifying edible mushrooms and avoiding poisonous ones. The cost is $7 plus HST. The program runs 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and repeats from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at Francis/King Regional Park on Munn Road. Participants are asked to arrive 10 minutes before the start, and to leave pets at home. Pre-registration is required by Friday. Space is limited. Call 250478-3344.
