An Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle is scheduled to touch down at Victoria airport on Nov. 30 — the first international flight on YYJ tarmac since the pandemic started nearly two years ago.
More flights are expected to follow into December and the new year, including to sunny destinations such as Las Vegas and Mexico.
Airport spokesman Rod Hunchak confirmed Wednesday the single flight from Seattle using a Bombardier DH4 plane will touch down Nov. 30 at 4:20 p.m. and return at 5:20 p.m.
On Dec. 1, another flight will land at 2:30 and depart at 3:40.
Victoria International Airport was cleared for international flights starting Nov. 30 after the federal government approved YYJ and seven other smaller airports to handle trans-border arrivals and departures.
Travellers must be fully vaccinated and pass COVID-19 tests within 72 hours of departure.
