Parts of Vancouver Island could see up to one metre of snowfall over the weekend as storm snow continues to accumulate at higher altitudes, says Avalanche sa国际传媒.
The on Friday evening for alpine and treeline areas over a wide swath of the Island north of Lake Cowichan and Nitinat Lake.
While no avalanche observations have yet been reported, Avalanche sa国际传媒 has recommeded avoiding all avalanche terrain on Saturday and to observe caution when out on Sunday. Natural avalanches are “likely” and human-triggered avalanches are “very likely” when high avalanche danger ratings are issued.
Between 20 to 50 centimetres of snow fell on Friday night and it’s expected that another 10 to 40 cm will fall on Saturday, the warning said.
Avalanche sa国际传媒 is expecting another 15 cm of snow to fall in alpine terrain on Sunday.
