The sa国际传媒 Highway Patrol is looking for more video footage and witnesses as it continues to investigate the death of a 61-year-old pedestrian in Nanoose Bay.

A southbound pickup truck hit the man as he was crossing Highway 19 at Northwest Bay Road about 7 a.m. Jan. 3 in rainy conditions.

The highway patrol has brought in collision reconstruction and mechanical experts to go over “every detail” of the crash, said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin.

McLaughlin noted that it’s a dangerous time of year for pedestrians, and called on drivers to slow down and be extra alert, and for pedestrians to wear high-visibility clothing.

Police said the driver involved stopped right away and is co-operating with officers.

Multiple witnesses to the collision also stopped and “did what they could for the pedestrian and to assist police,” police said in a statement.

There was no immediate indication of impairment or criminality, police said, adding no further updates will be provided until the investigation is complete.
