RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein was elected governor on Tuesday, defeating Republican Lt. Gov.

Democratic Rep. Hank Johnson won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Georgia on Tuesday. Johnson, 70, was reelected to a 10th term in Congress, where he serves on the House Judiciary and Transportation and Infrastructure committees.

Republican Rep. Greg Murphy won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing North Carolina on Tuesday.

Republican Rep. David Kustoff won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Tennessee on Tuesday. Kustoff clinched a fifth term in Congress for the 8th District in western Tennessee, which stretches into a sliver of Memphis and its suburbs.

Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein won North Carolina’s election for governor on Tuesday, defeating Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson. Stein succeeds term-limited Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper.

Republican Rep. Troy Balderson won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Ohio on Tuesday. He has represented Ohio's 12th Congressional District since 2018.

Republican Craig Goldman won election to a U.S. House seat representing Texas on Tuesday, holding the seat for the GOP. Goldman previously served in the Texas Legislature, assuming office in 2013. He defeated Democrat Trey Hunt and will replace Rep.

Republican Rep. James Baird won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Indiana on Tuesday. Baird, a decorated Army veteran who lost an arm during the Vietnam War, won his fourth term in the House.

Democratic Rep. Danny Davis won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Illinois on Tuesday. The Chicago Democrat won his 15th term after facing a spirited primary in March from four challengers who questioned his age and fitness for office.

Republican Chris Smith won election to a U.S. House seat representing New Jersey on Tuesday. He defeated Democrat Matthew Jenkins and two others in New Jersey’s 4th District.
