Don鈥檛 exempt Oak Bay from speculation tax

Re: 鈥淐hanges sought to speculation tax,鈥 Aug. 22. It鈥檚 very difficult to understand why the mayor of Oak Bay thinks that the speculation tax should be omitted for his municipality when there is such an extreme shortage of housing here.

Make rules the same for pot and tobacco

Re: 鈥淩ent increase is a gift to the wealthy,鈥 letter, Sept. 12. I empathize with the writer鈥檚 financial position and low annual increase of OAS/GIS payments and recognize hardships. Many landlords are renting to supplement their own incomes.

A bureaucratic battle to remove a space

Never mind Wi-Fi, make parking free

Re: 鈥淔ive hospitals add free Wi-Fi,鈥 Sept. 7. Does Island Health truly feel that providing Wi-Fi in the hospitals will enhance our experience while we are waiting at emergency, visiting family and friends, etc.
