Re: 鈥淏roncos bus crash was an accident,鈥� letter, Jan. 12. I find it odd that the letter-writer would defend the Humboldt truck driver by saying: 鈥淚t was an accident.

Only 42.6 per cent of registered voters turned out for the referendum on electoral reform. To me, this means that most people have given up on democracy entirely or see it as something of little importance.

Re: 鈥淧rotesters trying to stop progress,鈥� letter, Jan. 15. Contrary to what the writer has been told, there were protesters when the railway was built. They were called 鈥淚ndians,鈥� 鈥渟avages鈥� and even worse.

Do the citizens of Victoria not realize that we have our own pipeline crisis in our own backyard? Dallas Road is being stripped of its dignity with this massive pipeline, and not one protester in sight.
