Revealing costs would have stalled project

Re: 鈥淰ictoria鈥檚 bike lanes are a pricey vanity project,鈥 opinion, Oct. 28. Michel Murray鈥檚 comment is right on point, but for one point. The number going into this project was $7.75 million, not $7.0 million. It quickly ballooned to $14.4 million.

PR is good if you like less government

Re: 鈥淗organ, Weaver whip up rally for proportional representation,鈥 column, Oct. 24. As Les Leyne noted, politics are rooted in polarization and partisanship. Proportional representation will do nothing to change this.

Mayor Atwell deserves聽a thank-you

Richard Atwell performed a miracle. In 2014, he unseated a mayor of 18聽years. Not an easy feat when you don鈥檛 have a big reputation in local politics. But Atwell was very determined.

The 10 days between Halloween and Remembrance Day should be free of Christmas sales and decorations to show respect to our veterans. Those who served and died to protect our personal freedoms died for your rights.
