It is the basis of sound foreign policy to understand that world events do not occur in a vacuum. There are causes and conditions behind every war, social upheaval or mass migration in human history, if we have a willingness to look honestly.

In 2002, my wife and I and some friends attended the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics to cheer on Team sa国际传媒 in their quest for gold. We were so proud to be Canadian, as our American hosts embraced the Canadian fans with true hospitality and respect.

Re: 鈥淭ree canopy is still under threat,鈥� letter, Jan. 3. I agree with the letter-writer and would like to add that Grange Road has been ripped up and repaved a number of times. I believe they put in new water pipes last year.

On Boxing Day, talking to my son Carl and my grandson Dorian, I told them I wanted to see one of the world junior hockey games. I was quick to say that it didn鈥檛 have to be one of the Canadian games.
