In the past few weeks, there has been excessive media attention and public anger over a single 30-year-old birch tree.

Re: 鈥淢aritime Museum envisions national status, return home,鈥� Feb. 1. I am so glad the Maritime Museum of sa国际传媒 is planning a return to its Bastion Square home of 50 years.

Re: 鈥淥thers love to bring up Victoria鈥檚 sewage,鈥� editorial, Feb. 3. As a flatlander from Manitoba, I am disappointed by the attitude reflected in the summary line of the editorial: 鈥淭ell the rest of sa国际传媒 to put a cork in it.

Re: 鈥淧rovince must fix impasse over police budget,鈥� column, Jan. 31. Police-board governance might be imperfect but, contrary to Catherine Holt鈥檚 suggestion, it is hardly the root cause of the budget and other issues plaguing Victoria and Esquimalt.

Re: 鈥淢aritime Museum envisions national status, return home,鈥� Feb. 1. I am delighted that the folks at the Maritime Museum of sa国际传媒 have a solid proposal to move forward with.

I was a clerk at one of the polling stations for the recent Nanaimo byelection. Voter turnout was 53 per cent for an election that could have affected the balance of power in the legislature.
